Dynamic Duo!

I got that achievement last night.

That means I have two level 90s of two different classes.

Now before you get all up in my junk about what the hell was I doing leveling another character before I got all my reps complete etc; let me tell you that it was for a good reason!

I wanted to fly and herb at the same time >.>

I told you it was a good reason!

Just kidding. :D

PPP was leveled to 90 so we would have an extra healer should we need one.  So far it hasn’t been the case since Zari and Bocat so graciously stepped up to the plate to be the flex healers.  Now I honestly don’t know how much play time she will actually have in end game because outside of Lyssi, we don’t have a brez.  Also, the raiders apparently really love my cookies.

Who knew?

This post is mostly because Navi has nagged at me for not posting more.  She scolded me and told me that I was a very lazy blogger.

Now when Navi scolds you you best get off your duff! ;-)

Love you Navi!

In all honesty I really needed to post more.  As I have mentioned in the past I just don’t have the time during the day that I used to have.  The only reason I am writing this now is because my boss is out of the office on vacation and no one has come over to bug me for something this morning.  Have I mentioned how I run the office here?  Yeah I don’t think I did.  On top of being my boss’ assistant I also have his other assistant as MY assistant AND I have to act as the assistant for the Jr. partner.  So I have two people coming to me with tasks that I either do myself or assign to my assistant.  This is on top of all the “emergency” fires that are created because my boss has to do everything as soon as he hears about it regardless of what is going on or what needs done.  But hey, it is a job that pays well and I am appreciated so it works out.

In the game front I’ve been busy busy busy.  After many painful wipes (seriously, painful) we FINALLY got the first boss down.  I am proud to say that I was not the cause for any of the wipes, save one and that one wasn’t REALLY my fault, I just added to it because I am a tard.  We had like 3 people dead but for some reason I thought there were 5 people dead so I just assumed it was a wipe and ran into some bad and just stayed there until I died.  Slice then looks at me and was all “Did you seriously just go stand in bad and die?!?!?”  That was when I realized that I had looked at the screen wrong and we in fact were NOT wiping.  Turns out that was our best attempt prior to killing the boss.

Yeah fayle lock!

Speaking of Fayle, his newest thing, which Adoe has picked up on, is that I cannot read because I am a warlock.  Forget everything else, I cannot read because I am a warlock.

He isn’t even a mage!

Stupid stinky rogues & hunters.

I dunno maybe it is justified.  I did pull a complete fayle too.

I have always been an affliction warlock.

I have always aimed for haste, crit then mastery.

I play destro now.

Destro is Mastery, crit then haste.

I was um, gearing wrong.

I was also enchanting, gemming and reforging wrong.

It gets better.

I was not only using the wrong pet BUT I was also using the wrong grimoire!  20% vs 25%, yeah, no brainer >.<

Prior to my realizing I was fayling I was doing about 30k, which was pretty bad.  I was the lowest dps in the pack.  Upon realizing my fayle I fixed things and jumped up to about 47k and moved into 3rd – 4th place which is where I usually reside since Fayle, Zug and Adoe rule supreme in damage dealing.  Now I just need to work out my rotation a bit more.  I keep wanting to save my embers, which from everything I read I am not supposed to.  From what I understand I should be popping a CB every time I have an ember.  I will admit I haven’t gotten into the hang of that.  I am getting better though! :D

The other part that is funny is not actually raiding with a pet.  I am so used to having a pet out that using Grimoire of Sacrifice is odd.  I will say that I love the control demon ability part.  It puts the special ability of your demon as a spell for you.  During the Dog fight I would sac my voidwalker because then I get his ability to increase my health.  For non warlocks: Frenzied Enrage.  It is on a pretty short cooldown so that was nice to have!

Speaking of cooldowns, I took Mortal Coil as my talent and let me tell you it has been a LIFE SAVER during raids.  I hit that sucker and I get about 62k health back.  The best part is it is on a 45 second cooldown.  My healthstone is a 90 second cooldown.  I would pop a blue trap then hit my MC button and BOOM! full health!

Oh and remember to place your portal.  It has helped get me out of the bad on the floor more times than I can count.  It will also break the root that the blue traps leave on the ground.

So yeah, things are starting to move along in game.  I think once we get the rust off we will beat out the scrubs on our server that think they are hot shit.  I understand they beat Heroic DS and we didn’t.  But they also beat it at the 30% buff and we quit raiding.  When the top guilds on the server leave or stop raiding the scrub guilds try to fill the void.  To be honest I think some of them are even pugging a few spots.  I know one of the guilds tried to get Slice to come heal a raid for them.  We’ll see how things go and if our guildies pull their heads out of pet battles. ;-)

So there is my update for a while.  Hopefully this tides Navi over for a little bit. :D

A backdrop that is ideally suited for PPP

We should be driving through Missouri at this point in time.  We’ll be home tomorrow night! :D

ZOMG she was playing WoW!?!?

I’ve had a crazy last few months.  I have been busy, stressed and just feeling like I was about to burn out.  As I mentioned previously, I hadn’t really been playing much.  I had essentially quit running dungeons.  I wasn’t farming.  I really didn’t do much at all.

That kind of changed up on Sunday.

Saturday one of my friends had a baby shower so I went home to visit and join in on the fun.  The original plan was for me to spend the weekend at my mom’s house.  Well the shower ended at 4 and I just decided that I was going to drive home and relax for the rest of the weekend.  This meant that Sunday would be free to do whatever.

I woke up pretty early on Sunday (7:50 am >.< but I didn’t roll out of bed until 8 am) and just popped down on the computer.  The previous night I had run a few troll dungeons with guildies (I was really close to getting my tier chest) to which they all gave me flack for actually being in a dungeon.  I think both Slice and Sorak whispered me (while in a raid mind you) because they were in shock to see me in ZA.  /sigh  It does happen from time to time boys!

So anyway, I woke up and logged in.  I got my normal stuff out of the way then went to do the JC daily.  Just my luck it was the stupid Elemental Goo.  Normally this isn’t a problem for people, but my DK was only 76 (he dinged 77 that day) and can easily die to the mobs.  Luckily Rep was online and I asked her sweetly to come help me kill stuff.  The daily complete I moved on to the MF dailies.  Lyssi was just missing one Lieutenant and one guy from the bombing run.  So I went through and knocked out the dailies so that I could see if what I needed was there.  The last Lieutenant was up so I knocked out that achievement.  Unfortunately the guy I needed for the bombing run wasn’t up.  So I am one person away from having a snazzy new title!

Afterwards a few other people had come online and I asked if anyone wanted to do a heroic.  I pulled up Lyssi’s dungeon finder just to see that I was 30 points shy of capping.  Wait, what?  Yep.  Apparently killing 5 raid bosses, 1 reg heroic and 2 troll runs had me almost capped out.  That kind of put a dent into my plans.  Oh well no biggie!  I will heal!

I popped over to PPP snagged the 359 healy staff out of the gbank (yay for me!) and snagged Rep on her DK for some regular heroics.  While I know I can heal the troll stuff, I’d rather not so I just did a bunch of regular heroics.  For the rest of the afternoon Rep (sometimes Zari and Doz joined us) and I ran heroics.  We had some good runs and really didn’t have too much of a problem with people.  We got lucky early on and ended up with a tank from one of the top guilds on our server.  Most of the people in his guild are pretty nice and he was a good guy.  We did several dungeons with him and had fun chit chatting.

A few times I just queued up alone, even though there wasn’t a satchel.  One of those runs put me into heroic Vortex.  I was grouped up with 4 people from Cenarion Circle, two were from one guild and the other two were from another guild.  It was kind of funny.  They were a great group.  The tank wasn’t hard to heal and the dps didn’t stand in bad or cause problems.  All in all it was one of the best 5 man PuG runs I had ever had the pleasure to heal.  Thanks guys for making it fun! :)

Speaking of 5 mans.  The other night (I think Thursday night) there was a Call to Arms for healers so I switched over and queued up.  I got Deadmines.  I hate this place.  Not because it is hard but because it is so damn long.  We zone in and there is a male cow pally tank, an undead warlock, a belf hunter and a cow DK.  The tank runs in, gets hit by the cannon in the first doorway and promptly runs around the corner so even if the dps had gotten in the cannon it wouldn’t have done us any good.  No biggie, I kept him alive and barely kept the DK alive.  As we started moving forward the hunter ran off in the other direction and started dying.  Now I wasn’t going to chase him while the tank was in front of me dying to his overpull (he was NOT geared enough to pull the way he was) so he ended up dying.  Before anyone could react he dropped group.  Ok no biggie, we’ll get another dps in quick enough (this should have been a warning).  We get to the first boss and picked up another hunter, this time a troll.  First boss is pulled and no one moves out of the bad.  I have adds all over me and I am apparently the only one who knows you have to keep moving and dodging the bar of fireballs.  Of course the tank couldn’t be bothered to move or pull the adds off me.  I manged to keep everyone alive until the end when I lost the DK, but at that point I was on fumes.  I sat down to drink after the pull and typed in chat “Man you guys take a ton of damage.”  Apparently that was the wrong thing to say because after the loot roll the tank dropped.

/sigh

We all sat around waiting to move into the next room once we got another tank.  A few minutes went by and we get a male belf pally.  He starts clearing trash but no one frees the monkeys and people are taking a TON of damage.  So I quickly do what I can and start freeing the closest monkeys.  Now as anyone who has ever run this dungeon knows, you turn right and proceed that way through the tunnel.  This tank went left, into the dead end portion of the tunnel.  Did you know that at the very end of the tunnel there is an entire room full of those monkeys?  Yep an ENTIRE room.  The moment I saw those monkeys I immediately started freeing them because we would have DIED if I hadn’t.  After the last mob was killed I moved over to the CORRECT tunnel and luckily (for me) the tank followed me and started pulling.  Now you know those guys that throw the axe to the head, well he pulled all 3 at once.  So you can imagine how much FUN that was.  He then ran in and pulled the boss along with the trash (oh joy!).  Again we down the boss and I managed to keep everyone alive except the poor DK (who had died to trash already) and was on fumes AGAIN.  I whispered the poor DK and told him I wasn’t letting him die on purpose.  Found out that the DK was an alt and their main was a healy priest.  Heh.  We then moved into the next room and the tank pulled 2 groups of trash.  Despite my best efforts there was just too much damage.  I lost the tank and the DK.  The warlock and the hunter were able to finish up the trash that was pulled and I rezzed the dead.  We finish clearing the trash and get to the foundry room.  While I am asking if anyone knows how to drive the reaper the tank leaves.

WTF?

So we are again sitting there waiting for another tank.  The DK says that he can try to do it but had never done it.  I explain what he needs to do and eventually we get another tank.  Another male cow pally.  Seriously here?  For a moment I thought it might be the same one we had at first (the names were similar) but it wasn’t.  We re-buff and he starts clearing the trash.  No one gets into the reapers that we defeat. /sigh.  Eventually we start the boss encounter.  The fight is going well until close to the end and I lose the warlock.  He hadn’t moved from the edge of the ledge and had no where to run when the boss did his harvest thingy.  As I was trying to find his body, the tank dropped.

Seriously?!!?!

So again we are waiting for yet ANOTHER tank.  Luckily it wasn’t a very long wait.  The dps and I were joking that we were getting a new tank for every boss.  We finally get another tank and it is a female belf pally.  Oh look guys pally tank #4!!  I piped up in chat “lucky pally #4!”  She goes into the tunnel and starts pulling trash.  She got out of LoS for me and as I was running to find her I got those stupid swirling blades so I was trying to not hit everyone else AND still heal her.  It didn’t go so well and she dies.  Then one by one everyone else dies.  It was our first wipe of the run.  Considering some of the problems we’d been having this was pretty awesome we hadn’t wiped yet.  I run back (the tank and warlock don’t bother to release which I hate) and start rezzing people (mass rez FTW).  Once the tank is rezzed she drops.

>.<

Here we are sooooooooooooo close to finishing this horrid dungeon.  At this point I was NOT dropping.  I was going to get my damn satchel.  The dps weren’t bad, just kind of noobish.  We weren’t doing anything that would have stressed out a tank enough to drop.  So I have NO idea what the problem was.  After what seemed like our longest wait yet, we get our 5th tank, a druid.  Yay! No more pallies!  This guy was fricken awesome!  We started telling him about our pally tank woes and he was laughing up a storm.  I never checked his gear so I’m not sure how well geared he was, but he was by far the easiest of the 5 tanks to heal.  As we are running in to the ship I get a whisper from the hunter that he is going to drop and that it isn’t my fault.  I replied back to him that we were almost done and to just hang in there.  He stuck around and we made our way up to Ripsnarl.  Surprisingly enough that fight went VERY smoothly.  Cookie went over well despite no one but me eating anything.  The gauntlet was started and immediately someone died.  I stayed there and rezzed them.  I think it was the poor DK (I swear that guy’s armor HAD to be close to broken by the end of the run).  We get through the first 2 guys then face the Mario room.

Now anyone who knows me knows that I die to this room almost every single time.  Knowing this I stayed in the back and waited for everyone else to get through.  Sure enough 3 people died right away.  I rezzed them and then started making my way through.  The DK died again as I was running through.  Shockingly enough I made it through alive!  I never even got hit!  I was so proud of myself.  We moved on and started on the rest of the encounter.  Things went VERY smoothly.  Then at the end during Vanessa’s final explosion the poor DK stood next to her still trying to DPS her down and was killed.  We all laughed and looted the bitch.  I whispered the hunter and said “aren’t you glad you stayed?”  He whispered back with a yes and a smiley face.  We all said goodbye and wished each other well.

I opened my satchel on Lyssi (in case there was a pet or mount) just to find out it was a stupid int flask. /sigh

ANYWAY! Back to my original story!

I took a few breaks here and there.  I didn’t cap out PPP but she did all of the regular heroic dungeons that she could for the week.  All she has left are some trolls (which I will only do with guildies) or raiding.  We have a T11 run planned for tonight.  I will bring her in to heal then switch her for Lyssi on Cho’gall.  Lyssi is still rocking blue shoulders!  So I just might end up with 2 VP capped toons in one week.  Crazy talk I say!

When I came back from a small break Slice and Doz were PvPing on their DKs.  I whispered Slice asking if I could join them.  He said sure as soon as the BG was done.  I switched to Lyssi and popped over to her PvP spec and gear.  I made some crafted stuff for her and purchased what I could with the honor and JP I had.  She also had some pants that she won from the TB boss.  So she is rocking the crafted set bonus and the season 9 set bonus.  I think I am at around 1800 resil.  I know that isn’t all that much but it is enough for starting out in BGs.  Most people don’t even bother getting the crafted stuff.

Now Slice has been doing arena with Adoe and Zug and is ALL decked out in gear.  Doz has been grinding BGs on his DK so he is decked out too.  The three of us were in vent and just started chain running BGs.

It was so much fun!

Normally I die in BGs a LOT.  Like seriously a LOT.  It is like people see a warlock and HAVE to go after them.  It almost feels like we are the most hated class in there.  The few times I did arena I was the first killed, every time.  Now I am NOT a good PvPer.  In fact I am pretty bad at it.  So it just astounds me when I am the first to die.  I almost want to tell them that I couldn’t kill them even if I tried.  But oh well.

This time around I actually lived for most of the night.  Even when I was separated from Slice I survived.  The resil I did have was awesome.  I was getting stunned by rogues/warriors/DKs and I lived!  I got out of their stuns, fear bombed them then dotted the fuckers up.  All while running away.  I seriously love soulburn!  I can instantly get my VW out and bubble.  Best thing ever.  I was even doing fairly good on the boards.  I wasn’t capping or anything like that but I was protecting the flag carriers (in those BGs that have them) and defending flags and just generally creating havoc everywhere I went.

It was a blast!

During one WSG we were faced against a team that had 1 healer.  Our flag carrier had no opposition.  It was kind of sad.  Doz and Slice were actually fighting in the middle because that was the only place the other team was actually at.  Most of them were in blue PvE gear.  I think Slice had like 2 guys on him and they couldn’t kill him.  It was kind of funny.  When I got bored of following the flag carrier and doing nothing I joined them in the middle and just started killing people.  A few people tried to kill me but Slice kept me alive.  They didn’t even bother going to him.  Silly people.

Afterwards I jumped on my roguelette and opened up the MF dailies.  There are patterns and gear for her to earn.  I think Rep was shocked I was doing the dailies on another toon.  She said something about how she couldn’t even do them on her Alliance toon.  I dunno, I actually like the MF dailies.  They are quick and easy.  The funny part to me about getting gear for my rogue is I still have no clue how to play her.  If I can’t kill the mob in the first few hits it just becomes a matter of who can survive longer.  Maybe one day I will learn how to play her.

So yeah that was my Sunday.  A few times I was asked what I did with myself and who I was.  It’s cool though.  Gotta keep these boys on their toes.  Can’t have it where I am too predictable. ;-)

Healing meme Take 2!

Well the the healing meme is going around again and I got tagged twice.  As some of you might remember, I filled this out in the original call for it.  Although I am no longer primarily healing (I get to pew pew bitches!) I still heal from time to time.

Now I am going to preface this by saying that I don’t heal much at all so a lot of my answers really won’t have long replies.

1. What is the name, class, and spec of your primary healer?

Naedaessa aka PPP.  She is a Disc priest.  Although I think she is in her shadow off-spec for dailies currently.  I used to heal with Tattia (Tatia the nelf in the original survey) but I found that I just don’t enjoy my druid the way I enjoy my priest and I switched over as soon as I could.

2. What is your primary group healing environment? (i.e. raids, pvp, 5 mans)

PPP primarily does 5 mans or our 10 man alt runs.

3. What is your favorite healing spell for your class and why?

Penance bitches!  Lazer lights up your butt!  I love to see the ticks crit for 20k a pop.  It makes me giggle and smile.

4. What healing spell do you use least for your class and why?

Well this particular answer isn’t so much because I don’t like the spells, it is just because I FORGET I have the spells and thus forget to use them.  >.<  I am BAD at priesting here people.

So let’s go down the list!

Renew – too expensive and doesn’t heal enough to warrant the spending of mana;  Prayer of Healing – I forget I can hit Inner Focus and use this every time IF is off cooldown;  Lifegrip – Forget I have it until someone else grabs me thus pissing me off that I have been grabbed;  Divine Hymn – Forget I have it until Slice calls for it;  Hymn of Hope – Forget I have it unless it is asked for;  Some others I forget to use:  Pain Suppression, Power Infusion, Binding Heal.

I told you I was a bad priest!

5. What do you feel is the biggest strength of your healing class and why?

We are fantastic single target healers and are very flexible with healing roles.  This is especially helpful in 10 man raiding.  We can do it all bitches!

6. What do you feel is the biggest weakness of your healing class and why?

AoE heals.  I can single target heal a person up very well, but when you bring in more than 2 people I start gasping for mana and die in the vapors of my mana pool.

8. What healing class do you enjoy healing with most and why?

Well I have only healed with a pally and a druid.  So I really can’t answer this well.  I just don’t have any experience with other healing classes (or enough in this case) to really know what I like and I don’t like.

9. What healing class do you enjoy healing with least and why?

See above.

10. What is your worst habit as a healer?

See #4.  BAD PRIEST!

11. What is your biggest pet peeve in a group environment while healing?

People telling me how to heal if they place that class (I’m looking at you Slice! *glares*).  If I am doing something wrong and people are dying, then yes by all means step in and fix the situation.  If people are living and I am not OOM then STFU.  I play my priest a bit different than most (all you have to do is see my spec to see this) but I get the job done.  I am sure if I had more practice healing in raids (soooooo not happening) then things would probably change, but until then STFU!

12. Do you feel that your class/spec is well balanced with other healers for PvE healing?

I think that Disc is ideal for playing with others.  We can even play nicely with another Disc priest.  Everyone loves us and our Power Word: Nipple.

13. What tools do you use to evaluate your own performance as a healer?

Did Slice lecture me?  Did people die?  Am I OOM in the beginning of the fight?

14. What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about your healing class?

That you cannot bubble spam and have mana (I can and do!) and that Heal sucks.  I LOVE Heal.  I think I am the only priest out there that does.

15. What do you feel is the most difficult thing for new healers of your class to learn?

EVERY FUCKING SPELL A PRIEST HAS.  Seriously though, we have SO MANY spells that if you learned to play a priest like I did (LFD with bubble/Penance/Renew/Flash Heal as my only used spells) then you might have some issues.  I know that I had to actually keybind OTHER spells when I started healing 5 mans in Cata.

16. If someone were to try to evaluate your performance as a healer via recount, what sort of patterns would they see (i.e. lots of overhealing, low healing output, etc)?

Honestly I couldn’t tell you.  I haven’t really researched my healing on recount/WoL.  Most of the time when I am playing PPP she is healing a 5 man and that really isn’t much to look at for comparison.

17. Haste or Crit and why?

LOL I wish I could answer this one.  When I get a new piece of gear I ask Slice what I should do with it.  So see his answer.  Now with my druid I knew I wanted Haste, but I just have no clue with the priest.

18. What healing class do you feel you understand least?

It is a toss up between a Holy Pally and a Holy Priest.  I have played a lower level Shaman so I have some idea (not a lot but SOME) of what you need to do but I haven’t ever played a heally Pally, nor have I played Holy.  My very first priest (a space goat named Lyssiana of all things) was Holy but she only made it to like level 30 before I switched back to the lock.  This was also way back in BC era so things are different now.

19. What add-ons or macros do you use, if any, to aid you in healing?

Vuhdo through and through.  I use the mouse click options for my spells.  Macros hate me so I only have 2.  One that announces that I am OOM and another that I spam when I am getting hit that says “I am being HIT!”  I love to spam that one. :D

I use Power Auras when I dps but I haven’t set up any for my healing.  I probably should, but I am very lazy so it probably won’t happen any time soon.

Let’s see, whom do I want to tag on this . . . I want to see if I can get the other healers in SR to do a guest post and answer these questions.  So I will tag Sorak, Zarm and Zerl’s Pally Lery.  Of course all of them are in their DPS specs.  /Sigh.

PPP makes such a pretty princess ;-)

Bubbles, bubbles, everywhere, but not a drop to drink . . . yet!

As most of you know, PPP hit 85 a while back.  Since then I had been mostly using her to grind out TB dailies and to farm herbs.  I did a few heroics (she only had 4 green pieces when she dinged 85 ^_^) but those were as shadow.  While I was leveling her post 80 she didn’t set foot in a dungeon.  Which considering she was leveled in LFD is kind of odd.  My main reason for this was so she could herb as she leveled.

Yes I am serious.

The other reason was because I knew that Disc healing in Cata kind of sucks until you have some gear.  A fresh 85 (usually) doesn’t have the gear to not struggle.  Even though I had already popped my Cata healing cherry with Tattia (and it didn’t hurt all that much tbh) I was still apprehensive about healing with PPP.

I think a big part of it was because I leveled with the old style of Disc.  The bubble spamming Wrath-era Disc.  Where I could bubble everyone in the group and spam Flash Heal when someone dropped below 75%.  Even though I knew I could no longer play my priest that way I still was slightly worried.

The funny part was I was kind of getting used to playing Shadow.  It isn’t quite like Affliction.  It is more like the ugly redheaded step-child of Affliction.  I still prefer Affliction’s playstyle, but I will admit that Shadow is fun.  While with Affliction you have to watch all of your DoTs and keep them refreshed, you really don’t have too many procs to look out for.  With Shadow I have found you have the DoTs to track but the vast majority is spent building up stacks and using the  procs.  I find that while I am herbing in Uldum I get attacked by every croc and snake out there.  If I end a fight with an orb proc or an archangel proc I feel like I need to pick another fight just to use it.  The closest Affliction has is a Nightfall proc.  Unfortunately that proc has only a few seconds vs 30 some odd seconds for the orb proc.

I know that Slice and Sorak have been trying to figure out what I am planning to do with my priest.  Mostly it involves complaining that I am not healing heroics on her.  Because heaven forbid I level an alt to just farm. :-p

As I mentioned above, I had been grinding out TB dailies on her.  My main goal was to get her the healing trinket.  Well I finally got it on Friday (I think) (Edit: Thursday!) and thus had run out of excuses.  Saturday I got her enchanted up (some basic ones at the least) and then said that I was ready to try healing.

A normal.

Yeah I am doing this the correct way!

AKA the wussy way according to some people.

Slice offered to tank on his pally, Rep brought her mage, Arv nabbed his priest and Sorak brought Sorac, the fury warrior.  Luckily for me Rep & Arv were 81 and Sorac was only 83.  This meant that they wouldn’t be doing too many horrific things to me and we would get a fairly low level dungeon.  I knew it would either be Throne or Blackrock.  Sure enough Throne popped up.

I had no issues.  In fact I was rather bored.  To be fair it is a level 80-81 dungeon and I am heroic ilvl (I did say I had 4 greens) so I overgeared the place, as did Slice’s pally.  So it really didn’t count.  Arv & Rep got a few upgrades.  I think Sorac even got something so the run wasn’t a total waste.

After we finished the run Sorak decided we were done with the “pansy normals” and people switched out to run a heroic.  Arv got on his pally to tank, Sorak got on his rogue, Rep switched to her DK and Slice got on his boomkin.  We queued up and got Heroic Halls.  For one I was excited because lots of bosses = points & lots of chances for gear.  Then the other part of me freaked out because the first part of that place is HELL on healers.

Slice was in vent with me and was teasing me about pulling out my hair.

It never got that bad.

Mostly because when Slice can heal on a toon, he does.  Even if it is dps spec.  He throws out heals on his priest his pally AND his druid, no matter the spec.  I don’t think he can help himself.  So I know that the run would have gone A LOT rougher had he not been there on his druid.  I think he actually spent more time healing than I did.  I finally had to ask him to stop healing so I could see if I could handle it and would ask him for him if I needed it, which I did.

I will say that the fire shield guys SUCK without someone that can deal with their shield.

I use Vuhdo to heal.  I love it.  The problem is I don’t always remember which button combination gives me what spells.  While leveling PPP I didn’t really have to use many spells.  It was mostly bubble and forget it.  The result is I don’t know what half of my spells do, nor do I remember to use the ones that I do know.

PW: Barrier?  Yeah I forget I have that to use.  Pain Suppression? Yep forget that one too.  Power Infusion? Oops! Forgot!

I kept finding myself wanting to use my right mouse button to spam heals.  On my druid this button is Rejuv.  Previously on my priest it was Flash Heal.  I changed it to Heal.  So I’ve been spamming heal.  I have Penance as my left button and PW: Shield as my middle button.  Shift+Left Click is Greater Heal.  Button 4 is remove magic.  Button 5 is remove disease.  And that is the extent of what I remember I mapped. >.<

What I really need to do is update my spells.  I need to put Flash Heal where I will remember it (I specced into Surge of Light, yes I know, but frankly I like it and the free big heal is nice).  I also need to get Prayer of Mending on a button.  99% of the time I forget to cast it.  PS and PI need to be popped on there too.  A big problem I have is because I am Smite specced (and I do Smite, sometimes) I don’t have Vuhdo set up to where I target the person I am healing.  This allows me to keep a mob targeted (and not lose it) so I can Smite.  The issue comes up when I want to use a spell that I either don’t have mapped or if I need to target a person for some reason or another.  Then I either need to remember which F key is which person or I need to click on the party frames.  This of course causes delays etc.

Yes I am fail!  Trust me I am aware of it! :-p

At the same time I don’t know if switching to the targeting (like I have on my druid) would work with my Smite Spec.

Oh well I’ll figure it out with practice.

Other than wiping to the fire shield guys we actually didn’t have any major issues.  I let Sorak die several times.  Mostly because I just cannot heal more than one person THAT much at once.  AKA you pull aggro and don’t lose it, you die.  He was on his rogue.  If he couldn’t drop aggro then he is a bad rogue.

Psst!  He couldn’t drop aggro. ;-)

About halfway through the run Arv had to go and we kind of made Rep tank.  She DOES NOT tank heroics.  So thank you again sweetie for tanking! :D  She did a fantastic job and really wasn’t tough to heal.

Funny thing:  When you go into heroics with a green level chest (hey I did TRY to do regulars) getting a blue heroic chestpiece is a HUGE upgrade and makes healing soooooooooooo much easier.

We did another heroic with a few people switching out.  We got SFK.  Sorak was on his shaman and we dragged Zari in on his shaman too.  Slice tanked and we picked up a PuG DK to dps.  As we grouped up Zari was all “where are the DKs?”  He just HAD to jinx us. >.<

Actually the DK wasn’t bad.  Was kind of a jerk but wasn’t a bad player.

Now that run was VERY easy to heal.  I blame the shamans.  I have a feeling one of them was running healing stream.  I think we only had like 1 or 2 deaths.  The only time I panicked was during the first boss fight where he drains everyone’s life.  Slice was telling me when to use my Barrier (which I had COMPLETELY forgotten about and not used once all day) and I of course used it at the wrong time. /sigh  This led him to ask me why in the hell I had used it when I did.  Yeah I panicked.  It is all good though!  We made it through!  Sorak even said that he wasn’t helping me heal at all!

We did a couple more changes and Fayle decided he was going to tank.  Slice wanted to heal on his pally.  Zari switched to his priest and Rep came back on her DK (she had been afk).  I came along as shadow because I wanted the points and a chance to steal gear from Zari (which I totally did!).

Just FYI – I SUCK at trying to make it around corners without pulling mobs we are trying to skip.  So if you are in a party with me and you are trying to cut corners *cough*Sorak*cough* remember what happens.

Yeah I kind of wiped the group. >.<

In my defense I was trying to eat pasta (brown rice pasta is GROSS when it gets cold) while it was still hot.

Not a very good defense, but there it is!

The elusive wand dropped (first time there and it drops! win!!) and I snagged it.  I don’t know if Zari needed it or not.  Tis mine though!  On the final boss we changed up the specs a bit.  My dps is shit as Shadow (main spec is Disc after all) so Slice went prot, I went Disc and Fayle went dps so we could get the adds down.  At this point I had replaced my helmet, chest and wand (2 of those were green) and OMG the difference!  I actually had been remembering to use my Shadowfiend (I can never think of him as anything other than Nigel thanks to Tam) so I didn’t have any problem with mana.  I actually made mana pots for PPP and have yet to use one.  The boss dropped a staff (woot! upgrade over the Very Manly Staff).  After that run I was “told” I was coming on one on my lock. /sigh

All in all it was a good weekend.  I got boots from the quest reward so there went another green.  Yes my new helmet and boots have hit on them, but frankly I don’t care.  They were upgrades!  It wasn’t like I was taking them from anyone else who could use them.  The only green item I have left are my bracers.  Yes I know I could craft the PvP ones, but I refuse to.  I will get bracers when I get bracers.

As an aside, bracers dropped in the heroic I was in with my lock.  Go figure.

Tonight is raid night and the funny thing is all I want to do is to run heroics on the priest.  I had gotten to where I wasn’t a fan of them.  Now with the new challenge they are interesting again.

Go figure! ;-)

Hehehe bewbs

Last night in gchat I asked everyone how it was possible for the undead chicks to keep their boobs even when they jump around.  You would think those appendages would just fly off.  Apparently though “magic” is the answer.  I think there has to be something else though.  Nerds think about these things!

So yeah.  I think of some odd things sometimes.

Sorry for the radio silence.  I just haven’t had much to write about.  I can’t exactly write about guild drama anymore, mostly because I am an officer and am privy to all the background noise.  So while things have happened in game (nothing major) I just can’t/won’t write about it.

Plus Slice has this nasty habit of lecturing me whenever I “cross the line.”

/sigh males

PPP finally hit 85.  I’ve stayed shadow to do dailies and the occasional heroic with guildies.  I feel guilty for doing heroics.  While yes she has several crafted epics and has the gear level requirement, she still hasn’t “done time” in regulars.  I refuse to heal on her though.  I’m not enchanted and I want practice on regulars.  I haven’t healed since level 80 and I know that things have changed.  I noticed the difference on Tattia and I can just imagine it on PPP.  Add on top of that the fact that she is Disc.  Well let’s just say it probably won’t go over well.

My lone male toon is my DK.  Originally he was a female night elf on the alliance server Slice transferred to at the end of Wrath.  We had made DKs and were leveling them together.  He is my scribe and is an herbalist.  I personally don’t enjoy playing a DK.  I just mash buttons with them and things die.  The fun part is out dpsing and damaging Slice in 5 mans.  He has a rotation and is a good player, yet my button mashing wins.  It really does make me giggle.

Anyway, in order to get the Cata level of glyphs etc I had to get him to 75.  Like I said, Slice and I were leveling the DKs together.  That kind of died once we transferred back to Drak’Tharon.  We did a couple levels together but it got tough trying to find a time that worked.  Not to actually be online together, but when Slice actually would spend time leveling an alt he wasn’t going to raid with.  Eventually I just moved on because I needed him at 75.  Thus went the slog through Northrend.

I had been trying to level the roguelette at the same time.  The problem is she too was in Northrend.  I had managed to get her to 75 so she could get the next level of mining but I hadn’t moved much further than that.  After leveling the DK from 72 to 75 with no heirlooms through Northrend, I was done.  The roguelette just sat there in Dal.  I just couldn’t make myself go back to Northrend so soon.  No matter how badly I wanted a max level miner/engineer.

As you are aware, Slice transferred his mage to Rep’s server to help them with their raiding.  I had made a dorf lock over there a while back (and several horde toons) so when they were raiding I decided to level her again.  She went from 14 to 27 in one day.  I am actually leveling her as demo just so I can figure out the playstyle.  So far I have noticed that things die faster with the felguard as opposed to the voidwalker.  I do miss all the passive healing.  The thing I miss the most though is Soul Swap.  It is my new favorite thing on my warlock.  In fact I wish I had it on my priest.  Best. Thing. Ever.

While I was questing in the Wetlands I decided that I was going to pick up Arch on this toon and just do the dig sites that showed up in the zone I was in.  I wasn’t going to go out of my way to find the sites, but if they happened to be in the zone I was questing in, I would get some surveying done.  Now I had only done Arch on my max level toons so I had no idea the amount of XP you get from it.  At level 25 with no heirlooms, no rested XP, but the guild XP perks, I was getting almost 600 XP a successful survey.  Not too shabby.  Especially considering I was only getting 100-200 XP a mob.

As an aside, I am seriously leveling through zones super fast.  The guild XP perks help a bunch.  I can’t imagine how quickly the zones would go if I had heirlooms.

While chatting with a few people in Crits in their vent server I was informed that heirlooms affected the XP you got from Arch.

A lightbulb went off!

My roguelette is DECKED OUT in heirlooms.  The only ones she doesn’t have are the trinkets and the ring.  This was my ticket out of Northrend.  As I have previously discussed Arch is calming for me.  This would be a nice change from the slow XP grind on the roguelette.

Even better, it was Sunday. ^_^

I spent the better part of Sunday flying around (I even broke down and got epic flying, it was just too painful not to have it) and doing arch.  While I had rested XP I was getting around 46,000 XP a dig site.  That is the equivalent of 2 quests.  Once the rested ran out I got about 1 quest per dig site.  I was also picking up all the old world mining nodes.  Soooo much Mithril and Iron.  I got my first rare pretty quickly and am already working on my 2nd one.  I have decided to stick with Kalimdor again.  This is hoping I can get the trinket to drop.  Hey, it can’t hurt right?

I managed to get 2 levels on the roguelette before I called it quits for the night.  I will be sitting out one of the raid nights this week so I am hoping to get her to 80 so I can do the Cata zones this upcoming weekend.  I have no plans to raid with her, but I do want her max level so I can get the delicious ore and volatiles.  Just having my priest with her element transmuting has changed my dreamcloth production.  I am currently able to do every cooldown (except the chaos orb one, I don’t do heroics unless I don’t have a choice) each week.  In fact I am good for each one next week too.  I love being xmute specced.  The only problem I have now is what to do with all my dreamcloth stored up.

So yeah, that’s what I have been up to in game.  Lots and lots of alt playing.  The problem I am having is which one to play!  I still have my warrior and pally to level too!  Gah!! So many to play and so little time to play them all.

It’s update time!**

So let’s see, lots of stuff to update on.

No not really ^_^

I’ve mostly been plugging away at my alts.  I got PPP to 81 (as of last night).  I had to go *gasp* shadow once I hit 80.  I tried killing stuff as Disc, and it was just too painful.  Even when I was in Northrend I didn’t have too much of a problem killing stuff as Disc.  Man oh man though.  The mobs in the new 80-85 zones have a metric buttload of health.  After killing 2 mobs I was hearthing back to Org to pick up a 2nd spec.

I felt so sad.

Now usually people pick up a healing or tanking off spec so they can bring utility when they can’t deeps.  Here I am upset that I have to get a DPS spec.

/sigh

Since I leveled Disc through dungeons I never looked into playing Shadow.  I knew that it was similar to an affliction warlock, but me being me didn’t bother doing any research before I threw together a spec and ran off to pew pew.  To give myself credit I did try to use the dummies to get an idea for button placement.  I couldn’t find the level 80 dummies in Org so I got stuck with the level 85s and a bunch of my spells missed.  Oh well.

Off to Mt Hyjal!

The first few quests around the starting hub are going well.  Getting the rotation down . . . HERB!  Feeling pretty good.  I moved on to the next part and I am minding my own business, killing twilight peeps when suddenly I’m being hit with moonfire and insect swarm.  My first reaction is to bubble and run, which I do, only to die a few steps away.

Ok, no big deal.  PvP server.  It is expected.  Run back to my corpse, rez, re-buff and start to drink . . . MOONFIRE!  And I am dead again.

Seriously?!!?!

Drak is pretty lopsided for the Horde.  The few Alliance players tend to avoid the Hordies mostly due to sheer numbers, unless they are roaming together in a pack, then they will actively chase you.  Most people won’t see much world PvP on Drak outside of TB.  Not me. If there is world PvP to be found, I will be killed by it. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind world PvP, but when you camp someone for no reason it is BS.

This time I came back to my corpse, looked around and rezzed in a safe place.  Flew away to buff and drink.  I was more aware now.  I kept looking around.  I saw no one.  Went back to doing my quests.  I had to pick up the staff slivers.  As I am looting one BOOM!  MOONFIRE!

At this point I am PISSED!  I haven’t even bothered trying to fight back with this guy.  It is around 11 pm at night PST, 1 am server time.  It is late and I just wanted to get some quests done before I passed out for the night.  This jerk of a druid is holding me up.  I asked for help from guildies.  My brother parties up with me to come help only to ditch me when TB comes up.  Gotta love family right?  No one else seemed to be willing to come help at that point in time so I said fuck it and switched to Lyssi.

That’s right bitches, I got my MAIN!

This means war!

I fly out there and have no problem finding the druid.  Two dots and the fucker was dead.  I waited a bit, flew up (why do people NEVER look up?!?!) killed him again after he rezzed then flew away.  To make him think I was done with him.  Gave him a few to feel like he was safe, found him again and dotted him up.  He tried to get away, he even flew up to escape my range.

HA! I will still get you!

I flew up, dotted him up AGAIN! and took a fall.  I took an 85k fall damage hit, but he died.

I popped a healthstone and logged out from a spot watching where my priest was questing.

Logged back into my priest, looked around, no druid.  Rezzed, buffed, drank . . . HERB!  Went back to questing.  Was fine for all of 5 mins then BOOM!  MOONFIRE!

Did this moron not have enough?!!?!

I released and logged back into Lyssi.  Killed him again.  Logged back into PPP when I couldn’t find the druid.  As I was running back to my corpse I found him.  He was actually standing next to my ghost form.

Did I switch back to Lyssi?

You bet I did!

Killed him again!

Then killed him one more time for effect.

At that point I couldn’t find him anymore.  I quickly switched back to PPP to rez.  At this point it was almost midnight and I had work in the morning.  I hadn’t gotten anything completed.  Which of course pissed me off some more.

Stupid Alliance druid.

The next day at work I was telling Cynwise and Psynister how I needed to learn to PvP on my priest.  Psynister told me that he was going to finish his “How to level a shadow priest” guide and this worked out perfectly.  When I had been busy at work I had gotten behind on my blog reading so I went over to his site and got updated.

Just a plug here.  If you aren’t reading these blogs — You are seriously missing out.  These two guys are awesome.  Totally nice guys who just kick serious ass.  Go read them! :D

So now I have more of an idea of what do to when I get jumped on PPP.

Not that I will remember or anything.

Most likely I will run, die, then go get my main.

It is how I roll.

**Also – You need to say the title like they do on the Jersey shore when it is T-shirt time. No I don’t watch the show. Give me SOME credit!

Adventures in PuG leveling

As I have mentioned in the past, I have been leveling the roguelette and PPP.  The main reason behind trying to get these alts up are their professions.  The roguelette has mining/engineering and PPP has herbing/alchemy.  I want my volatiles!

The roguelette has been questing and finally hit 75 last week.  She has been put in full heirlooms and has been tearing things up.

On the other hand PPP was not given anything and has leveled almost exlusively through dungeons.  She quested a bit back in the lower levels (when I couldn’t stand the dungeons I was faced with) and has herbed for a bit, but about 95% of her xp has come from dungeons.  During these dungeons I have come across more things that I should never have to see, more than once.

Everyone knows about the Spellpower plate wearing DK.  You see those quite often.  More than anyone should for that matter. >.>   Now I had heard about spellpower plate wearing warriors.  Even seen a few with a piece here and there.  However, last night I had the “pleasure” of running Old Kingdom with a “fury” warrior who was decked out in Spellpower plate and Int gear.  I am talking caster cloak, neck and rings ON TOP of the holy pally gear.

Normally I don’t bother to look at people’s gear unless they are doing something that is off.  The first boss in OK seems to drop the holy pally belt like every time I was in there.  Everyone rolled greed and I won the item.  The warrior chimes up “Can I have that?”  I told him no, it wasn’t for him it was a holy pally belt and he doesn’t want it.  This went on for a good 10 mins.  Complete with him linking his green belt (one of his few items with strength on it) and went on about how the blue belt was better because the (and I quote) “Armor, stam and crit as so much better.”  I then went on to tell him that he needs to stack strength NOT the other stats.  It took the mage in the group to tell him “Dude that is a paladin belt.”  That was when he dropped it.  /Sigh.

The downside to playing an alt of a different class than your main is seeing all the other people playing “your” class and failing.  The sheer amount of fail warlocks that I have come across just makes me want to pull my hair out, curl up into a ball and cry.

Yes I know my blog no longer generates any major traffic (not that it ever did) but I do want to say this for all you people leveling warlocks:

  • Your voidwalker DOES NOT BELONG IN A DUNGEON

There is NO REASON you should be using this minion for dps.  No he DOES NOT do more dps than any other pet you have.  Yes his taunt CAN mess with the tank.  Any warlock who uses this pet in a dungeon IS DOING IT WRONG!  I have an issue if you use the wrong pet for your spec, but if you are still doing decent damage/dps I won’t be that upset.  I will still /facepalm at you, but I won’t get pissy.

  • If you life tap until you are close to death, USE YOUR HEAL!

Warlocks now have a channeled heal that we can use out of combat.  You get this heal in the teens.  There is no reason why I should have to heal your ass because you are too lazy to hit a button while we are out of combat.  I will, and have, let warlocks die for not healing themselves.

  • When there is ONE mob, use your rotation, DO NOT use your AoE spells

Spamming Seed and Rain of Fire on one mob will not kill it faster.  Trust me on this one.

  • At least know what spells your spec should be using.

If you are affliction, you want to use Haunt, Unstable Affliction, Corruption and Bane of Agony with Shadow Bolt spam.  If you are Destro you want Immolate and Incinerate spam.  Demo has the mixture of both.  Affliction benefits from SHADOW damage.  You DO NOT want to use fire spells if you are looking for the best damage output.  Destro is the fire spec.  Demo benefits from both.

I had an affliction warlock in one of my Gundrak runs.  She had a felpuppy out (that made me happy) so at least she passed that test.  She would cast Haunt then spam Incinerate and Soul Fire.  I had to double check her spec to make sure she wasn’t just running with the wrong pet.  Nope, she was affliction using Destro spells.  I whispered her asking why she was doing that.  She replied back that she hadn’t played this toon for a while and had forgotten the rotation.  I asked if she would like some tips, to which she was VERY happy to receive.  I left that run very happy with myself.

Now you might think I am a crazy bitch who is horrible in dungeons, but I will at least keep it in whispers if I see someone doing something that is “off.”  I don’t want to embarass them in front of the whole group, hell they are doing that on their own, I just want to help them if they need it.  Obviously the warlock above needed that help and I was there to give it.  It is when they are doing something that is so horribly bad and when they get mad at you for asking them why is when I turn into bitch mode.

If you are going to play something against the norm you will need to give me a reason why.  It can be a stupid reason like “I wanted to see how badly I could do this” but I need a reason.  Yes I know this is a random 5 man and NOT a raid, but damn it there are 4 other people with you, at least have the courtsey to know how to play before you join a random.  You don’t have to be awesome, but please at least know how to play your role.

Another thing that drives me nuts (I KNOW I have mentioned this before) is people not releasing when it is a wipe.  If my ass has to run back, so does your ass.  I WILL NOT rez you.  Last night I zoned into a Gundrak (I was there so much yesterday >.<) where they had wiped on the trash before the first boss.  BTW what is with the dungeon finder not telling you that you are entering a dungeon already in progress?!!?  I ask what happened and was told that the healer zoned in and midway through the pull apologized and left.  Everyone had released and run back in, except for the tank.  He was still sitting there in the doorway waiting for someone to rez him.  I sure as hell wasn’t going to do it.  He was at the FUCKING door.  It would take him LESS time to release and run back in by the time I would have rezzed him.  So I sat down and pulled up my internet window and started reading.  Asshole move I know.  The best part to me was the fact that I was the only one in the group who could rez.  I didn’t say anything, just sat back to wait and see what would happen.  After about 2 mins one of the mages (there were 2) started bitching about “people not pulling their weight” (no I didn’t understand it either) and dropped group.  Another minute later the other mage started bitching “Just rez him already so we can get on with this!”  To which I dropped group.

Asshole of me, yes, yes it was.  Do I feel bad?  No, not in the least.

I chimed up in gchat about what happened and Zari (I <3 you Zari!) says “I <3 evil.”

Me too Zari, me too.
