Weekend in review

I had a nice weekend playing.  If you read my comments sections at all (and you really should) you would have seen that I was going to be raiding on Millea with Slopoke’s guild.  To make sure all was good to go (since they start raiding shortly after I get home from work) I logged into Millea on Thursday night.

I facepalmed so bad when I looked at her.

Yes it was that bad.

She hasn’t raided since Ulduar.  The highest gear she has is from the new ICC 5 mans.  She is in 2 piece T8 and 2 piece T9.  Both her trinkets and her off hand are ilvl 200.  Her gems were bad.  In fact, she didn’t even have her meta active.

*cries*

I wanted to go through and fix all of her gems but then I stopped myself and thought about it for a moment.  She wont be keeping this stuff for very long (assuming she raids with Slo more) and will be upgrading.

Of course this assumes that something other than enhancement shammy gear and plate drops from every fucking boss in ICC. >.>

Slo wasn’t kidding when she said that she makes it drop.  One cloth piece dropped the entire night.  ONE!  Luckily the pug priest we brought in didn’t roll on it.  He was a good pug.  He didn’t try to take off spec while he was healing.

Dooms finally got the staff he wanted.  Apparently it has been a running joke with them that Abracadaver doesn’t exist.  As a result, they run with it reserved for him on the off chance that it will drop.  I told Slo that it would drop because I was there (and thus could use it).  What happened?  It dropped of course. 🙂

So grats again to Dooms! 😀

I got my friendly ring from the Ashen Verdict.  That was a HUGE upgrade from the ring from ToC 5 >.< that I was wearing.  I mean HUGE.  I had the triumph badge ring on my other finger slot so when the ring dropped off BP it wasn’t that huge of an upgrade and I didn’t have a problem letting Dooms have it.

I had a ton of fun with Slo and the gang.  If they will have me back I think I shall be running with them again on Friday.

I really don’t know how much time I will be spending on Bloodhoof, but man oh man I am feeling the loss of the stuff I sent over with Tattia when I transferred her.  I sent her with my stockpile of gems, cloth, honor, flasks, fish, etc.  I still have fail mage over there so I can go farm herbs and make flasks, but it is just going to take a bit to get back up to where I was.  I just need to designate a day where I farm herbs.  Maybe on Tuesday.  Everyone will be raiding so it should be fairly quiet around the nodes.

It was kind of funny when I was trying to buy stuff for Millea’s raiding.  Drak’Tharon is a low pop server and has a weak AH.  Bloodhoof is one of the original servers, has a high pop and the market almost always has what you need, at a fairly cheap price.  Cheap flasks on DT are around the 20g range, usually closer to 25g.  On BH I got my flasks for 16-17g.  My gems were about 50g cheaper on BH too.  Of course we all know that Zug controls the gem markets on DT.

Speaking of Zug.  Last night I was on Lyssi farming in WG when I see him talking to me in gchat.  He started talking about racing in Ulduar.  Said that we needed to race on the racetrack before Mimron.  Dodging the bombs etc.  Said that we should do it as a guild.  He even set up something on the calendar.  I was laughing so hard.  It was so completely random and so totally Zug.  I ❤ you Zug, I really do. 🙂

I had forgotten how much fun it is to go into the “Goddess of Death” mode with Lyssi.  I was running around killing litterally EVERYTHING in my path.  It is a real ego booster let me tell you.  I ran over and decided to do the Ebon Blade dailies to get some cash (since I have been sending so much to alts and not playing my main) and I went onto the Savage Ledge.  Nothing is as much fun as killing all of those Vykrul guys until the entire ledge is empty and I have to run around and loot everything before they re-spawn.

SO MUCH FUN! ^_^

I spent some quality time on Saturday with the roguelette.  She is now 1 1/2 bars away from 37.  I got her engineering up so now she can make the 2 pets.  I made a few of each and tried selling them on the AH.  When I put up one of each, there weren’t any on the AH.  They sold almost immediately.  When I went to put up another set there were like 10 of each up there.  So I held back and will try again either tonight or tomorrow.  Made a nice chunck of change for the roguelette.  She won’t need to come crying to Lyssi and Tattia for gold any time soon.

Slice and I also worked on the caster duo on Sunday.  We got up to 23 I think.  He still isn’t feeling the ranged caster dps, but he sure loves to AoE.  I can’t wait to see his reaction once he gets Seed of Corruption at 70.  Now THAT is fun AoE.

I have another project that I am working on.  It has me all excited again.  Once everything is finalized I will annouce it on the blog.  Until then it will remain a secret project. 😀

No Tel it is not another alt. :-p

I think I might even try to set up a 10 man ICC for some point this week.  See if I can still raid lead.  Any takers? 🙂

Wow! An actual post!

So what has been going on here?  All the cop out posts and lack of posts?

Umm I haven’t been feeling it?

Yeah that’s it!

Yesterday you can blame on Dark/Soth.  Him and I were having a great conversation during my lunch break and I didn’t want to end it to focus on making a post.  So yeah, all his fault.  ^.^b

So what have I been up to?  Raiding, leveling, raiding, dailies, leveling, raiding.  😀

Oh, I have also apparently been soiling towels over the warlock changes for cat.  I am only up to 2 towels so I think we will be ok.  I play affliction and most of what I am seeing will benefit demo and destro more.  So while I am excited, I don’t have to do 5 loads of laundry, yet.

Last week in our ICC 10 group we cleared all the way up to Sindragosa with only one wipe on BQL.  Last night we did the same thing.  I ❤ my guild.  The best part of that was the groups were almost all different people.  There were a few of us (myself, Soth, Sorak & Slice are the first that come to mind) that were there both times, but most of the group was different.  It was a major high last week pulling that off.  Last night, was a tad bit different.

As Arioch has mentioned, we have enough characters but not enough players for full on 25 man runs so intead we are going to do 2 10 mans on different days.  Last night was the “slightly more hardcore” group.  We are extending our lock out until we kill Arthas.  Since we cleared up to Sindragosa I think we might just see him next week.  I watched the video for the first time yesterday and all I can say is “HOLY SHITBALLS.”  That fight looks insane.  I thought Sindragosa was crazy looking, but the LK fight tops it.  Which it should in all honesty.  I can’t wait to see that fight.  I really can’t.

As for other things.  Some of you might be wondering why I have only been talking about Shadow Rising.  No I did not leave Echo of Fate.  I am currently on a break from them though.  I attempted to step down as an officer but Mis wouldn’t let me.  I don’t have any plans to remove my characters or anything, but they are way on the back burner.  I have found I enjoy raiding emmensely.  Not that raiding with EoF wasn’t fun, but it was a different kind of raiding.  EoF’s raiding was a lot more laid back.  We could spend an entire night in the lower spire.  Not because we were having a hard time killing stuff, but because we take our time.  The raid last night was clearing trash in the upper spire 28 mins after we started the raid.  That is about usual for SR raids.  It isn’t better than EoF’s methods, just different.  Right now I am enjoying the difference and thriving on it.

I am also loving the fact that I get to raid as DPS.  Don’t get me wrong, I loved raiding on my druid, but my love is with my warlocks.  The really funny thing is I don’t feel the same way about Millea as I do about Lyssianna.  For some reason I cannot see Millea doing the same thing Lyssianna does.  It doesn’t make much sense, but that is the case.  Lyssianna is just so much more badass than Millea ever was/is.  She is the goddess of death.  She walks into an area and kills everything in sight.  Millea flails about and is very much fail lock.  This does make me rather sad.  Especially since she was my first 80 and first love.  She deserves better.

I recently started leveling a troll shammy.  Zari she has the ponytail mohawk btw.  She is being leveled as ele/resto and healing in dungeons when I get bored of questing.  So far it has been interesting, but not too difficult.  The only death I have had was a hunter that I let die.  He wouldn’t stop pulling mobs.  I told him several times to stop pulling or I wouldn’t heal him.  He didn’t listen and got no heals.  I have stopped caring.  Healing randoms on my druid has left me with no sympathy for fail pugs.  If you cannot follow instructions then you get no heals.  If someone else wants to heal your ass, that is on them.  I have washed my hands of you.

Zuleka so far is fun, just not AS fun as a warlock.  I am hoping that she gets better as I get better levels.  She was originally the toon I was going to level with my brother but since I am not playing on BH anymore he decided to power level his hunter to get to 80 quicker.  There hasn’t been any talk of him and I leveling anything else together but who knows.  I did get to level a bit with Zambra’s warrior.  I am not sure if we will be leveling much together or not.  Hex mentioned that I should dungeon level with his pally tank (who wears short shorts btw) but I need to hit 32ish first.  I am not sure what I will be doing with her.  I mostly played her this last weekend because I had all 25 dailies done on Lyssi and nothing else to do since no one was online.  Holiday weekends suck for those of us that don’t celebrate anything.

I am not sure what else I will be doing the rest of the weekend.  I don’t have any raids lined up and unless Tir sets up something and needs me to go, I don’t think I will be raiding much.  I had been working on knocking out all of the quests in GH with Slice, but that all depends on if he wants to do that.  Zuleka might get more time or hell, I might even try to learn how to play in BGs.  I try my hand out with the random BG finder and get thrown into ones I had never been in before.  90% of my BG experience is in AB.  I got thrown into AV the other day and I was so confused.  My guildies told me to follow the crowd and I should be ok.  Um yeah that didn’t exactly work out as intended since I tend to stop and help defend flags.  The bad thing with that particular run was I stopped to help and then was promptly deserted at the flag, whereupon I was quickly killed by the next alliance player who happened to stroll by.  Can you guess what class that was?

I am a slacker

I REALLY don’t want to make a post today.  All weekend long I have just felt blah.  I don’t want to play WoW, hell I haven’t wanted to wash my hair.  Which is gross, yes I am quite aware of that fact, thank you very much.  Maybe I am depressed or just blah.  I haven’t figured it out yet.

Thursday night saw a lot of fun in my guild.  We managed to pull off the first 5 bosses of Ulduar and do an OS run on top of everything.  We got the 8 man Sarth achievement on 2 separate groups last week.  So that was awesome.

Things have been pretty quiet on the guild front.  Not many people have been online lately.  Except for late at night when our lovely Air Force crew logs in.  So suddenly we go from 2 people online to 7.

I finally got my pet pug on my mage.  I think I am like 14 people or so from getting it on my druid.  I still have a ton left on my warlock.  I need to figure out what would be the best gear upgrade for her.  She has like 89 BoT and I don’t know what to buy with them.  She is currently sitting around ilvl 219 with a few 226 items thrown in for good measure.  Hell, I think my mage is better geared than her now.  Which is really sad because I have no intention of raiding with my mage.  I really need to bring Millea out more often and keep the cobwebs from re-forming.  How sad is it when your main has been put on the back burner for so long to where she is no longer considered by people to be your main?  I even played into that a bit by having Tatia be the character that was promoted to officer instead of Millea.  I am just never on Millea.  It really makes me sad.  I will probably play her even less when I level up a worgen warlock too.  😦

Ah oh well.

So last night I finally got a chance to check out the new 5 mans, on regular.  The first 2 were really easy to heal.  In fact I didn’t have any problems until the gauntlet in the round room.  I don’t remember what the hell it is called.  Those rogues suck ass.  I spent most of the time being dazed and stunned, which meant I couldn’t even get a rejuv off.  BTW the new glyph means I need to change my healing a tad bit.  The HoTs fall off so fast that I need to up my reaction time.

We finally found a strategy that kept us alive, well at least me so that I could keep everyone else alive.  I don’t know about the rest of you, but I was having a hell of a time seeing people in there.  There was something about the light in the dungeon that just wasn’t allowing my horrid vision to see my guildies.  Not fun.

After we finished up in there I did my daily random dungeon on my girls.  First up Millea.  I queued up, took several minutes before I was even put into a group, then I got teleported to VH.  Ok no biggie, cake.  3 of the people in the group were in the same guild, and all of them were TOC 25 geared.  Then there was me, who is probably TOC 10 geared.  The final guy was a boomkin and was sitting in ICC gear level.  I was the least geared person there.  We get to the first boss and it is the water boss.  I offer to get the switches, they tell me ok.  So I am standing next to a switch by the water tank, because that just happened to be where I was when we found out who the boss was.  I don’t know what happened, but the boss came straight for me and started beating on me and I died.  I didn’t get one fucking heal.  The tank is all “oh I am sorry, my taunt didn’t work.”  First of all he is a fucking Pally, where was consecrate?  How would Avenger’s shield NOT work?!!?!  He didn’t even bother to taunt the boss.  I WASN’T ATTACKING I DIDN’T DO A DAMN THING TO KEEP AGGRO.  Fuckers.  Then, something I found hilariously pathetic, the tank NEEDED on the items that the final boss dropped.  Everyone else, including his guildies, rolled disenchant.  Dipshit.

I ended up with UK on my druid.  We had a super geared DPS warrior, an average geared (uld-toc) kitty druid, a fresh 80 mage and a fresh 80 pally tank.  It was interesting to say the least.  He didn’t know what he was doing and blamed it on being in the the “milatary” (his spelling not mine) and not having played for a while.  The warrior kept pulling aggro and I kept dying because my healing aggro was too much.  *sigh*  This was heroic UK, I’ve 3 manned it before.  >.<

Oh well.

Anyway I must leave you now.  My sweetie’s plane has landed and I need to go get him 😀

Andrew (Corvine) enjoys transforming himself into a pygmy gnome while on his rogue.  The other night we were doing Heroic UP when he transformed himself, then Heleva threw the mohawk grenade on us all, and to make things even better, she threw a baby spice on him.  I must have like 20 pictures of him like this.  We were all dying in vent when this happened.  He fought through the instance like this.  It was awesome.

What was I doing again?

So my plans for doing heroics to get back into the swing of healing didn’t happen.  Instead I leveled my mage.  She hit 60 last night 😀

 

Millea didn’t hit 70 unti lafter Wrath came out, so she didn’t get to do all of the BC heroics, actually she didn’t do anything outside of ramps, BF and BM, and that is because a bored 70 ran me through BF and I ran someone through ramps after I hit 80.  BM was for all of the delicious netherweave spider silk.  I also wanted the enchant, but I never manged to get my rep high enough.  We used to do lots of runs in BM, but then they needed a healer so Tatia went and Millea got pushed out of going.  Millea never did get that enchant.

As one of the few high level enchanters (who is online) the vast majority of guildies ask me for enchants.  One of the enchants that I kept being asked for was the +35 agility for a 2 hand weapon.  You can only get the enchant in the arcatraz, which I had never done.  So last night Nite gets on and asks me for the enchant.  Since I don’t have it we all decide to go to the instance.  Off we ran, with 2 high 70s alts of other guildies.  We got lucky and the enchant dropped in regular so we didn’t have to keep running it in order to get everyone heroic keys.  When it drops I asked Vel if we needed to re-run it so he could get it.  He tells us that he has it.  >.<  He didn’t realize that we had ran the instance so that I could get the enchant to do it for Nite. *sigh*  But hey I have the enchant now 😀

 

A few months back we recruited a hunter from a PuG we had done.  The hunter was cool with the little bit of raiding we did.  He just wanted to find a guild that raided on the weekends because that was his work schedule.  Since he joined us about 3-5 of his friends have also joined us.  They are all in the air force and work together.  They are all pretty cool guys that fit in well with us.  They haven’t been able to raid with us lately and I was chatting with them last night trying to work out something so that they could be more included with us.  We ended up talking about late night Naxx runs (since most of their toons aren’t geared enough for Ulduar yet).  From what we were able to figure out we would have almost a full raid from just those guys and the few of us on the west coast.  He is going to talk with them today and let me know what sounds like a plan.

 

This has me excited.  I don’t care if I am just doing Naxx, OS, Vault or even Ulduar.  I just like raiding.  It is a lot of fun to me and I want to do it more.  I don’t need to be doing progression raids, although I wont say no to them.  I just like to raid.  I am hoping that this will bring about more raiding for EoF.  😀

What is the name, class, and spec of your primary dps?Millea, Affliction Warlock

 

What is your primary dpsing environment? (i.e. raids, pvp, 5 mans)

Mostly 5 mans, although we have had enough healers lately that I have been able to go on the 10 mans.

What is your favorite dps spell/ability for your class and why?

I love Haunt.  I love how it sucks your life away, then gives me a nice big heal at the end.  The added buffs to my other dots is really nice too 😀

What dps spell do you use least for your class and why?

I’m going to keep in the affliction tree because there are a bunch of spells that I don’t use that the other trees do.  I am going to say Seed of Corruption.  I mostly don’t use it because I forget I have it.  I am so used to just spamming Rain of Fire that popping out a few Seed of Corruptions doesn’t come to me.  Although I am getting better at it.  We did a heroic Oculus run the other night (right after Ulduar mind you) and I used it on all those irritating whelps in the first part of the dungeon.  Seeing all those numbers flying up was awesome.

What do you feel is the biggest strength of your dps class and why?

Our ability to be self sufficient, especially affliction locks.  I can life tap to regain mana, and then Haunt and the Siphon Life effect heal me, on top of my Fel Armor.  I routinely tell the healers that they usually do not need to heal me unless I have major aggro and am taking more damage than normal.  I don’t want the healers to feel like I am using their mana bar to refill mine.

What do you feel is the biggest weakness of your dps class and why?

 Affliction warlocks really lack the burst damage.  I will get put on things that have to die quickly, and I just cannot get them down fast enough.  I am built for taking you down one DoT tick at a time.  The longer I have, the more damage you have done to you.  Having me kill the bomb bots on XT just doesn’t work as well as one would think.  I am also not so great with the webs in Naxx.

In a 25 man raiding environment, what do you feel, in general, is the best dps assignment for you?

The boss.  As I mentioned above, I don’t have burst damage ability.  If I can sit there and drain away on the boss, I will rock your socks off.  Don’t put me on adds, and I don’t have much raid utility (outside of imp sb).  I am made to kill bosses, and I do it quite well I might add.

What dps class do you enjoy dpsing with most and why?

I love me some elemental shammies.  Their delicious totems help with my dps big time.  I don’t like how they always pass me on the meters, but there are a few times I can beat them 😀

What tanking class do you enjoy dpsing with least and why?

Other warlocks and mages.  It is purely a competitive thing on my part.  I only like other warlocks if I can beat them.  I dislike how my damage sucks on the overall meter when compared to mages, but I LOVE how I usually beat them on the boss fights.  It does make them cocky though.

What is your worst habit as a dps?

Pulling aggro.  The rule is the lock has to die.  I somehow manage to pull aggro off the best tank.  I always wait before I let loose.  Hell most of my spells take a moment to even build up aggro, but I still manage to pull it off.  WTB better soul shatter.

What is your biggest pet peeve in a group environment while dpsing?

People asking me for a table, or telling me that my overall dps sucks.  People expecting me to have better burst damage.  I AM NOT A MAGE!!! FFS.

Do you feel that your class/spec is well balanced with other dps?

I do.  We might not bring a lot of utility to the raid, but what we do bring is lots and lots of damage.  I usually am close to the top with overall damage on boss fights, where it counts. 

What tools do you use to evaluate your own performance as a damage dealer?

I check recount.  I look to see how badly I am clipping DoTs, and my DoT uptime.  I look to see if I beat the mage and rogue.  (Nerf rogues please! :p)

What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about your class?

That I am a mage.  I AM NOT A MAGE!!!  Destro locks come close, the wannabe mages, but I am not destro.

What do you feel is the most difficult thing for new dpsers of your class to learn?

How to keep your DoTs in order.  How not to clip them, and how to keep them up.  Affliction is a lot easier than it used to be, but it still takes practice.

What dps class do you feel you understand least?

Rogues.  I dislike playing them.  Despite Andrew telling me how you just “Press 1, then press 1, then press 1, then press 1, then press 3, then press 1, then press 1, then press 4, then press 1 etc” I can’t get into their playstyle. 

What add-ons or macros do you use, if any, to aid you in dps?

Umm other than recount, nothing.  I know I am supposed to be using Omen, but I could never understand it, so I haven’t downloaded it.  The built in threat meter in the game works well for me.  I am sure Mis will be unhappy about this, but since he pulls shit on me while I am healing him, it is only fair game ^_^

Strength over other stats or balanced stat allocation, and why?

I love me some spellpower and haste.  They are oh so yummy.  The more spellpower the better.  Spellpower gives me the oomph I need and haste speeds up my casts.  The more haste I have, the more Shadowbolts I can get off before I have to refresh Haunt.

Mostly on her trash, yeah they sucked.

 

But do you notice the human female in front of the boobs?  Yeah baby!  That is my pretty little lock.  She got to raid as dps! 😀  She cleaned house as the only cloth wearer in the group.

 

So I went back and started leveling my mage again.  I got her halfway to 57 then left felwood and jetted over to the plaguelands.  Ran around for a while in WPL killing things over and over again because I always get lost and turned around.  Although I will say it was a lot easier to kill stuff there on my fire mage than on my balance druid.  Not sure why, but WPL was less of a PITA than it had been.  By the time I finished with the first 3 or 4 quests there she was a little over 57.  I decided to call it for the night (it was like 11:15 at this point and I get up early for work) so I hearthed back to EPL.  I picked up the quests there since I was now honored with Argent Dawn.  I saw that I had all of the “collect 30 of these” quests for tokens, and I just so happened to have a bunch of that stuff in my bank.  So a quick switch out to my bank toon and back to the mage.  I turned in like 4-5 turn ins and when I looked at her xp bar she was only 6000 away from 58.  So I quickly ran outside and killed a few slimes.  As she dinged 58 she got a hot streak.  I thought it was apropos. 😀

 

So onward to outlands!  I finally was able to train her alchemy and first aid above 300.  Yes I know I could have gotten a portal to Shat, but damn it I wanted to do it when I got to outlands.  So by the time I finished getting all my training done, and quests picked up, it was almost midnight.  >.> Yeah Monday is going to suck ass.

 

I think I am going to let her rest up and get some blue xp again since she is just about tapped out.  I might have my sweetie run me through Strathholme to get some gear.  I’m still wearing level 30 stuff.  I know he wants the Baron mount so I don’t think he will be overly upset over running me through.

 

Anyway, congrats again to Echo of Fate for downing Crazy Cat Lady.  Next weekend we are totally taking out IC and moving on to tackle the keepers!  😀

I don’t remember if I mentioned this before or not, but Andrew is an artist.  My fridge at home has a ton of his pictures on it, to his chagrin 😀 (I’m such an evil friend).  Yesterday he sent me an email with a picture he did of Millea and Tatia.  He sent the picture to me saying that he had something for me for Screenshot Friday.

Late, LATE post >.>

Sooooooooooooooooo yeah, this post is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay late.  Sorry about that.  I got home and my sweetie had me get online to do HH, where I didn’t get the helm *sadface*, then the heroic daily was AN which is what I needed for my lock’s proof of demise acheivement.  Then others came online and wanted to do it too, so I tried my hand at dpsing on my druid, since the priest we have is specced heals and pvp heals, so yeah no dps spec for her.  It didn’t go off too badly.  I did almost 3500 dps on the first boss, almost 1700 on the 2nd boss (did a bunch of poison clenses and general non dpsing stuff), and then 1650 on the final boss.  Same thing there as on the 2nd boss, I focused on adds and cleaning the poison instead of pew pewing the boss.  Considering this is in resto gear with a dps necklace (that I switched in to give myself a little bit of hit) I really didn’t do as badly as I thought.  I still have no rotation though, which is fail, but hey I’m a tree!  It happens.
